Basa Catfish are native to the Mekong Delta, Vietnam, they live mainly in freshwater areas. As a catfish, Basa fish has a short, diamond-shaped body form, a rounded rib, and a fat belly. In the fish farming, the average size of fish are from 18-34 cm, and average weight from 266 - 1195 grams.
In Vietnam, BaSa Catfish has been raised widely in the fish farms since 1997, in the form of raising rafts, dunes, ponds, and lagoons. Thanks to the favour of nature, Basa catfish in Vietnam has a milder flavour and more delicate texture compare to other regions. In 2018, the export value of Basa Catfish reached a record of 2.3 billion USD, which turn to be one of the most favorite seafood product for consumers in Australia.
